Sabrina
August 12, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
There's really not much to say about this beautiful creature that hasn't been said or seen... she's absolutely gorgeous, about the sweetest thing in the world, wicked smart and oh my what a personality (not a big barker but the doggie speech sounds are hilarious) she listens to the kids long stories and responds back. Anyone new comes to the house she will literally put herself between them and the kids and although walking may not be Rosie's favorite pastime she will sprint down the driveway if she see's any kid going to chase a ball. She has really taken to swimming as well which will be great exercise as we grow a lil' older together. She sits and waits kinda patiently for her food to be given to her... if she/when she finishes first she lies down and waits for Coco to finish. Rosie will now also "snuggle" on the couch if she's invited up but will not jump up on her own! She's a huge part of our family just an absolute delight, we love her and are very thankful to all of you for bringing her into our lives!

Evee fka Peanut
August 12, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Although Evee (aka Peanut) has had to overcome many obstacles during her short life she is pure joy. From her Ohio rescue and journey to Second Chance, through her surgery and rehab she remains a love. Her rehab has been great although we have to try and keep her from doing flips whenever she sees us and keeping her from over doing it has been a challenge. She is happiest when she is in my arms as you can see from the picture. My husband and I laugh at how our three SCAS dogs have accepted each other. Well we do have our Diva Izzy aka JoAnney who thinks it should be all about her and does not hesitate to remind us all on a daily basis. Although they cuddle together Izzy still gives the cold shoulder to Evee and Coco by cuddling in between them but facing the opposite direction. Coco is too old to care which end Izzy offers her as long as she has warm bodies to snuggle with and her special place on the couch (we had to buy a sectional to accommodate everyone). So all is well with our very special SCAS family. Everyone at the shelter works very hard to provide a safe, comfortable and loving, temporary home until that very special family is chosen to adopt them. A very special thanks to Julie who works tirelessly as matchmaker between pet and adopter to make sure it is just the right fit.

Rose, Josh, CoCo, Izzy and Evee

Steel
August 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I adopted Steel when he was 3 months 6 days old from your shelter last December 2012, and he has been the love of my life from that day on!! He is about to celebrate his first birthday August 30th with family and friends close by. It was through the unconditional love of this cat I have made it through some very difficult times....thank you Second Chance for all your hard work and dedication, and Steel thanks you too!! Keep up the good work,

Monica F. And Steel

Buster
August 9, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Buster is doing great. He has adjusted very well to his new home and he is a very happy little guy. He is very friendly and just loves attention. He is always at the door when I get home from work and always so happy to see me. He tends to have a mischievous side and thinks that the end table is his place to sleep. Maybe because he is up higher and he gets the breeze from the fan. It is fine, I don't mind. He is careful and does not even knock the picture and lamp that are on the table off! He also loves sleeping on the bed and he can get up and down on his own. Sometimes I come home from work and it is quite evident that Buster has been hanging out in the bed. He is silly and funny and I just love having him as my new friend. I would say it is a very happy ending for Buster and me! Have a great day!

Angelique

Muffin
August 9, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Mailah (fka Muffin) has adapted very well in our home after two weeks. She has gotten along with our other cat who loves to play with her and chase her around the house. She snuggles with us when it's bed time and is very energetic during the day. Mailah is such a joy to have around. We treat her like a child of our own. She's just a fluff ball full of pleasure!

Suzy and Mr. Higgins
August 9, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Suzy (fka Snowy) is doing great. She is quickly getting over her shyness and is learning to play. We recently went on vacation to Maine and she had a great time. I'm attaching pictures of her and Buddy Holly (fna Mr. Higgins) in our apartment in Maine. Suzy is everthing we wanted and more. Everyone should know the love of a rescue animal. You just have to give them a SECOND CHANCE. Thank you Second Chance, you folks are fantastic!

Shadow fka Wally
July 25, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We adopted Shadow (formerly known as 'Wally') 3 months ago, and it already feels like he has been a part of the family forever! He was one of the dogs rescued from the Ohio hoarding situation. We renamed him Shadow because he is super loyal and wants to be with us no matter where we go! He has adjusted very well and has befriended the cats, which is awesome. He LOVES cuddling, and is super smart. He already knows sit, stay, lay down, paw, spin around, play dead, and rollover! That's only the beginning, he loves to learn. He also absolutely loves his frisbee and 'treat ball,' which has kept him entertained for hours. Thank you for everything, especially for introducing Shadow into our lives!

The Sobolewski Family

Chara fka Cassie
July 25, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Chara, formerly known as Cassie, is doing great! She has adjusted so well to living with us. She is a happy girl and is really enjoying living across the street from a lake! She has made some new doggy friends in the neighborhood. We adopted Chara on July 13 and she already knows how to sit, give paw, and lay down. We could not be happier with our decision to adopt a puppy. She is such a joy to have and has brought so much love to our lives.

Sincerely, Chelsea and Andrew

June fka Sara
July 24, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
June (the dog formerly know as Sara) is such a happy addition to the family! She is great with the kids & kitty and is a laid-back puppy. She has learned to sit, lie down and go to her bed (we are working on stay and shaking her paw). She is definitely a terrier, very smart, playful and sometimes mischievous. She is doing pretty well on her potty training, with only a few accidents here and there. She does love to chew so we are trying to keep shoes out of her reach and give her plenty of toys instead. We are hoping she will grow out of the chewing as she gets all her grown-up teeth. Thank you so much for all the great work you do! Best,

Jess (Claes, Bo, & Ruby)

Jackie fka Zoey
July 23, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We renamed Jackie, Zoey and she is doing fantastic! She is transitioning well to her new home, where she is spoiled with love...and toys. Zoey has such a sweet, loving personality that certainly brightens our day, everyday. Although she's learning and growing quickly, she still has her puppy moments like, occasionally sneaking away with a sandal in her mouth. We are so excited that she is a part of our family. Thank you so much!

Kayla and Nate

Storm aka Sailor
July 19, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We renamed Storm, Sailer and she is a doll! She is such a cuddle bug and is very outspoken! I was worried about her being so small and our 10 month old Elkhound/Shepherd mix puppy and him getting rough with her, but they get along great, he is a little bit obsessed with her, however he is very gentle with her. As you can see in the picture, they get along fine. She is wonderful!! Thank you!

Brenda and Julia

Coby (Sanderson) and
Brady (Dennison)
July 19, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We actually renamed the kitties, Coby (Sanderson) and Brady (Dennison). They love to play together, sleep together, and get into mischief together! But they are lots of fun!! They love to snuggle together!

Skippy is doing great. I can see that she is always trying to be a good mom to Ahoy. She's so sweet.

Buster fka King
July 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I'm writing to let you know how King (now Buster) is doing! Fantastic! First of all... His name. The night we adopted King, the lady that helped us, (forgive me because I can't remember her name :( ) was trying to keep King comfortable while we walked him for the first time. She kept calling him "Buster" and the name just stuck! Our 7-year-old fell in love with the name and wouldn't let us name him anything else! Buster, he is! We adopted King back in May of this year. He was brought to you as a stray and he was so timid, but was SO sweet. We knew he was the dog for us when we saw how he behaved with our daughter the night we adopted him. It has taken him a while, and he still has a ways to go, but he has made great strides in his new home! He is still such a sweet boy, and is beginning to come around and show his playful side. he doesn't play like your 'typical' dog would. He has his own ways, and it's hysterical! He's VERY energetic and LOVES the run we put up for him. We're also still trying to find a treat that he gets really excited for! He's warming up to Milkbones, but the last one i gave him took him 2 days to eat! lol! Rest assured, though, that King is thriving in his new home, and we can't imagine not having him now! He has such a personality and has quickly become an important part of the family! Thank you SO much for the great work that you do for these animals and finding them loving homes!!

The Southworh Family

Bella
July 3, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
About a year ago I adoped a kitty named Bella. Recently she had a birthday and turned five!! She got a huge cat tree as a late birthday present and loves it! I just wanted to let everyone know she is doing great and is very spoiled and loved. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take care of her... she is a great friend! Please see the attached picture of her on her new cat tree! Take care.

Heather

Cinnamon aka Sid
July 3, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We renamed Cinnamon "Sid". He is doing GREAT here and I love him more and more every day. You were right, once he's in a home he'll get more cuddly... I can't even sit on the couch without getting headbutts and snuggles left and right. I'm so happy I was given the chance to provide Cinnamon with a loving home. My boyfriend is thrilled because there is another animal in our house that can favor him (Champ, my dog is very obvious about favoring me so it's nice to have Sid show PJ some affection haha). He has been eating well, drinking plenty of water and is super playful. He really is a great cat and I'm so happy he's with our family now! He's still just as funny and goofy as before! Again, thank you for suggesting Cinnamon/Sid, he's such a good boy and fits right in with my little rescued furry family :) Best,

Laura E.

Hi Second Chance,
We adopted Roxy in October and she was instantly a part of the family as if she's always been with us! She loves hiking and camping, and LOVES to swim in the lake! She is our best friend and so protective of our family. She is so adventurous and full of love which is perfect!

Joffrey and Anchor
aka Salvatore and Klause
June 20, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I just wanted to update you on Joffrey and Anchor, which are now known as Salvatore and Klause! They are both doing great and have adjusted to our home well! They have their "own" room, but really have run of the whole house! . They are definitely a handful and keeping us going! Even though they are not brothers, we tell them they are and they are getting along well. Salvatore (the gray tiger) is 3 months today, and Klause will be 3 months on Thursday. They play hard, but cuddle up to each other too, they are just great and my husband and I love them so much already! We're so happy we made the trip to Second Chance that day and found these 2 wonderful babies!!

Roostah fka Buttercup
June 19, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
"Buttercup" is doing great! We have changed his name to "Roostah." He has been to the vet and has received his second round of shots. He is healthy and happy. Although he is a bit of a live wire, he keeps us entertained and laughing. He likes to watch the birds at the feeder from the kitchen window and likes to curl up in a warm lap to watch tv in the afternoons. He is a good little guy... Thank you!

Dennis

Gumby fka Rhubarb
June 12, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
He is doing very well, we renamed him gumby. He went to the vet last week and will be going back again next week for his rabies vaccine. My daughter absolutely loves playing with him. Ill have someone take a pic of the 3 of us and ill email it to you. He has brought such joy to our family. We are so happy to have him.

Kate

Max fka Jack
June 12, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We are so happy that Max (formerly Jack) has become a part of our family! It only took him about 2 days to get really comfortable and confident that he was in his “forever home”. House breaking is going well most of the time – he really hates the rain and it makes getting him outside for longer than 30 seconds challenging. He is so gentle, even with our 15 month old granddaughter. We look forward to seeing them grow up together. Max is such a love, and takes every opportunity he can to get a belly rub – and we are happy to oblige. We feel really lucky that he has come into our lives. Thank you for making that happen!

The Litchfield Family

Buttercup loves his new home! All family members and brother/sister pets love him as much as he loves us. Currently, we have no concerns/issues! Bella and Roxie
fka Lisa and Marge
June 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Thank you for checking in on the kittens, they are doing wonderful! They seem to love their new home as much as we love having them. They are playing a lot, purring a lot, sleeping a lot and eating a lot! I am very pleased that we decided to take both kittens because they seem to experience a lot of comfort from one another (and they are just so cute!!!!). Attached is a picture of Bella (formerly Lisa). Due to size, I will send another of and Roxie (formerly Marge)! Take care,

Tracey C.

Stella
June 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I am so grateful to have Stella in my life. :-) She sleeps by my feet at night, and makes sure I never sleep past my alarm clock in the morning. She loves playing with all her new toys, but her favorite is the stuffed sock she brought with her from the shelter. Thank you for all you did to bring Stella into my life! :-)

Monica

TimTom fka Tim
June 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Tim was renamed twice, first to Cinza (Portuguese translation is ash or grey), but was then renamed again, by our neighbors very cute 2 year old daughter to “TimTom” which has stuck. TimTom has settled in absolutely wonderfully and very playfully with our adult cat, Mittens. From the very first day, they got along and would eat together, like Ying & Yang. After a few days of nervously exploring the house and pouncing on Mittens orange tail, he is more confident, friendly and calm. Timtom loves to nap in your lap and also bonded strongly with our 13 year old, sleeping with him every night or leaning up against him while he plays video games. We love him unconditionally and he loves us back with endless purring, kitty smiles (slow blinks) and exposing his belly. TimTom and our family want to thank Second Chance for the tremendous service they provide for families like us, the community and the animals who need our love!

Chris, Doris and Sam

Scooter fka Elliot
June 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
He is doing just fine so loveable and his name is scooter now.

Tallulah fka Lovebug
June 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I adopted Tallulah, formerly known as Lovebug, about 3 months ago. As she is my first kitten, I was nervous about the transition. However, everything went smoothly and Tallulah is doing great! The qualities that made me fall in love with her at the shelter have only intensified since bringing her home to my parents and brothers. She still constantly purrs and cuddles and is as playful as ever. She even gets along with her sister Daisy the bearded dragon. She wins over the hearts of whoever she meets including those who claim that they are "dog people". I am so glad that I found Tallulah and I am excited for many more years with her by my side. Thank you so much,

Lisa G.

Daisy fka Lion
June 10, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Thank you for checking in on Lion, whose new name is Daisy. She is doing really well and seems to be happy in her new home with her furry dog sister Macie and her brother kitty Maxx. I took her to the vet on Saturday and she checked out well. She is sweet and I am so happy to have her in the family. Thank you again!

Susan

Junior
June 10, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just wanted to give you an update on Junior. He definitely has made himself at home. It's hard to tell, but that is his happy face! He is happy going for walks, loves taking car rides and basking in the sun. He has really added so much to our family. He has found a family that will love him forever. Thank you so much.

Sandy K.

Copper aka Champ
June 7, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Your Champ is doing very well. He is walking well on a loose leash, so congratulations and thanks to your "walkers." He is a bit head shy still, but gets along well with my Danny and stays happily within the kitchen when I shut the gate at night. So I think he has made it this time.

Helen H.

Rex
May 30, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We are convinced that Rex is the most perfect kitten! He had a fabulous transition to his new home and has been wonderful from the moment he arrived. He's playful and sweet, and growing like a weed. Thank you for such a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you again! Sincerely,

Beth L.

Hugo
May 28, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Isn't he handsome! We had him at the beach the other day. He was so excited. He would run like the wind...and return when called!! Thanks so much for our special dog.

Mary and Fred B.

Bob
May 27, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Thank you so much for helping to rescue Bob from the hoarding home in Ohio! We are absolutely delighted to have him become a part of our family here in Mass. He is the cutest thing with his crooked neck, bobbed tail, never ending love and affection, and non stop antics. He even snores and makes little kitty sounds. He never fails to make us smile and at times has made us laugh until we cried. He loves playing with our older cat Pancho, who we adopted from you all 5 years ago. Within a week they became like brothers, wrestling, playing, and taking naps together. Perfect fit all around. Thank you so much for helping to bring this unique little kitty into our lives. Forever grateful,

Sarah and Andy

Reggie
May 24, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Reggie is doing very well! He gets along with everyone, cats and dog alike, and is a bundle of energy! He enjoys playing with our 4 year old male cat, Eli, the most but everyone gets their turn. Our dog, Lola, wants to mother him! He'd rather play though. We look forward to him growing into a beautiful cat! Thanks for taking care of him and letting us be his guardian.

Corinne and John

Romeo
May 22, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just wanted to send you an update about Romeo. He is a wonderful little boy and quickly became part of our family. He is very smart and well mannered. We love him. He is awesome with the kids and enjoys taking turns sleeping with them! Thank you for letting us bring Romie home.

Todd and Jenn C.

Ruby
May 20, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
This is Ruby the first night we brought her home. It did not take her long to settle in! We are so blessed to have had a great adoption experience. Everyone at Second Chance was so friendly and very thorough. Thank you all so much!

Izzy fka Jasmine
May 14, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
My husband and I are totally in love with our little Isabelle! "Izzy" as we call her has quickly become a part of our home. We are still working on potty training (she, or should I say maybe we, have about an 80% success rate right now). Izzy does great with rides in the car, is friendly towards everyone, is totally calm in different environments, and very smart (which can sometimes mean she gets bored and tears up stuff during the day, but we are quickly learning what she needs during the days to keep a good girl good!). This all means that I think she is going to make a wonderful therapy dog, which was my hope in getting her. We are going to start training with her at Dogology in Canton, CT. Izzy is definitely loving home life after street life. She isn't foraging as much for food since she gets 2 meals a day, she has plenty of chew toys, she sleeps in our bed, and is always either on one of our laps, or snuggled up against our pug, Roxy. I would be happy to write a happy Happy Endings story, and keep you updated on Izzy's life as a therapy dog. Thank you so much for being a part of bringing her into our lives! Erin

Mamie fka Betsy
May 14, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Mamie (the super pooch formerly known as Betsy) has settled in and is a great addition to our household. She is super sweet and is unfailingly polite. On our walks around the property, she is constantly on the lookout for rabbits and guinea hens (the hens visit from a couple of houses away). When she spots a still rabbit, she freezes and often raises one front paw to point. She stays perfectly still until the rabbit runs. If she weren't on a long lead, I'm sure she'd catch one or run to the next town in pursuit. This weekend, she went hiking at Rock House Reservation where she had a ball. I've enclosed two pictures: 1) Mamie in her studious hunter mode, and 2 ) playful Mamie just coming out of rollover. She is a complete joy.

Simba and Rocky
May 13, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
After a long morning of wrestling, Simba and Rocky. Adopted on Saturday May 11

Sofie
May 13, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I just wish to say how much I love my "Sofie" She's a real comfort. She doesn't replace my wife Geri, now in Heaven, but Sofie is "The best". She loves to drink her water from the bathtub nozzle.... Best regards,

Rudy K.

Lily fka Doodle
May 8, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Doodle, now known as Lily, is doing great! She's a lovely, lovely dog. At first we were amazed at how mellow and subdued she was, but Monday she was a wild woman, even after a 3 mile walk! We took that as a sign she is getting comfortable with us, and able to be herself. She is very social with other dogs. She tries to be social with our old crotchety cat, and has gotten her nose swiped a couple times. She likes to chew paper and wood, but she's easily distracted with a rawhide chewy. She's been great with kids, except she's barked and growled two different times at two young boys while we were out for a walk, so not sure if something in her past causes her to be afraid. All other contact with children has been fine, even with our 3 and 1 year old grandsons. We are watching her closely when children are around. We've left her alone for a couple hours here and there, she's been fine except when she had an upset belly, so we aren't crating her. She gets deathly car sick. We took her to Maine last weekend, she was ok on the way up with dramamine, but not the way back. We have a veterinary appointment on 5/22, so we'll see what remedies are possible. Funny, we were really looking for an older dog, but when we saw her, we knew she was the one for us. Thank you so much for checking in, and all that you do. When she is more accustomed to the car, we'll bring her back for a visit.

Lady
May 7, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Hi,
I am Lady Noelle (AKA lady)
I have a "forever home"
I think I came from "down south".
Mommy & Daddy give me lots of love and lots of toys.
We live on 38 acres of farm land; 25 acres are hay fields.
Wow, I can run free!
We have 3 rescue cats; they're not sure if they like me yet.
My new friend is my neighbors rescue dog.
Her name is poppy, and she came from "down south" also.
We run and play, and I share my toys and lunch with her.
We are even going to have a sleep-over at my house next week.
Mommy volunteers at the N.B. Senior Center, so I get to go visit her friends there.
Life is good!
P. Zegarra

Sam
May 7, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Sam is adjusting well. He has had visit to the vet and went to the groomer today. We are working with him on his jumping and mouthing everything and everyone. He has been good in the house and is good walking on a leash. He hasn't barked at all!!!. He is fond of chewing so we have bought some chew toys....but things like the TV remote seem to tempt him a lot!! Thanks again for all the help.

Elizabeth

Foxy Lady
May 6, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Foxy Lady has been a wonderful addition to our family! We lover her to pieces. Two of our cats, Pumpkin and Peaches have adjuster to her. Our 3rd cat, Spooky, is slowly coming around. Foxy Lady is very affectionate (quite the lap dog), well behaved, smart and playful! We're pretty sure she adopted us and not the other way around and we're very glad she did! Thank you,

Denise and Mike

Truffles
May 6, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just a note to let you know we adopted Truffles about a year ago and she is doing very well. She is very playful and we are happy to have her. Thanks again.

Joyce and Bob

Sammy fka Grover
May 3, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Grover, who is now called "Sammy" is doing extremely well. He is an angel! Everyone loves him. He is great with other dogs and the neighbor's children. I have no concerns whatsoever. I always wonder why he was surrendered. He is so adorable. Smart. Housebroken.. No concerns. Best,

Marga

Sara
April 24, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Thank you for the note about Sara. Where shall I start? She has started to slowly come out of her shell and loves to jump around like a bunny. She is learning so many new things: how to chew a bone, how to play with fuzzy toys, how to sleep on a clean dogbed, how to walk on grass, how to use a leash . It's almost like she is smiling all day long. She is a real delight and so soft and cuddly ( when you can catch her). Her big sister dog , Lily, has been teaching her some new tricks and they enjoyed the first camping trip of the season. Sara was a trooper in a long car drive and it looks like she will be fun to take on outings. The hardest part will be potty training since she still thinks it's okay to squat wherever she feels like it. I am so glad that she is a part of my little family , though, and every day brings some new progress. Everyone wants her. Thank you for bringing her here all the way from Ohio. It's so strange to see her in the video perched on the cat tower, top shelf , and to see her now. Woof , woof

Oliver fka Prince
April 22, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Though Oliver (formerly Prince) has only been in our home for a couple of days he has already found a place in our hearts. He is CRAZY but he is also a little love bug. In fact, I wish we'd waited longer to name him as that likely would've been his name. Thank you for taking good care of him during the short time he was with you and for helping us find the newest member of our animal family!

Sammy
April 22, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Thanks for checking in on Sammy....he is doing very well. He's adjusted well to his new home and seems to be loving it. He has TONS of things to play with (balls, feathers, scratchers, paper bags to hide in etc etc).....he is a VERY playful kitten (he does like to bite and scratch so we are trying to teach him to use his scratchers...he has a few) He loves his "kitty cot" in the window and the other pic is with Sydney. He's adjusted well to his new food (he's eating very well) and and uses his litter boxes perfectly. Thanks again for checking in and thank you for Sammy.....we Love Him !!

Sunday and Patsy
fka Frito and Dorito
April 19, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We adopted Fritos and Doritos (now known as Sunday and Patsy) last weekend, and they have adjusted really well to their new home! They love playing ball with my 4 and 2 year old sons (and the boys absolutely adore them!). And they also love snuggling up together and cleaning each other :) They are really sweet kitties and have the softest fur...we are so happy to have them in our family. Now we just need to get better at telling them apart...they look so much alike! Thanks for taking such good care of them...your shelter is top-notch!

Sophie
April 17, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Sophie seems to be doing Great! But, being "nocturnal", she's doing plenty of night exploration and I'm Not getting much sleep....But she's beautiful and I love her.

Mouse
April 17, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We adopted Mouse and brought him home Tuesday night and he decided that the bathroom sink was a good spot to relax. He is adjusting to our house very well. He loves to play with his mouse's so i guess Mouse is a good name for him! He loves to bang his head into your hand so you need to pet him so he can get lots and lots of love! He's such a good cat and were so glad he's ours.

Zinnie

We adopted Zinnie last week and we just love him. He's a big, friendly love nugget. We'll be more than happy to adopt from you in the future!

Mack
April 10, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We're totally in love with this big lug! And it really didn't take too long for the cats to accept him either (one is holding out, however). He's well behaved in every aspect except with the guinea pig. Nevertheless, he's fabulous in every way! Thank you for our 40 pound lap dog!

Jamie and David

Maddie
April 10, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Here is a picture of Maddie I changed her name. She is a wonderful little cat, Mia who is now 8 months old who I adopted in October, at first was not sure if this was a good idea, a few growls and hisses and now are best friends I think. Maddie just turned 6 months old this week and has made herself at home, we want to thank you for giving us the chance to be a very happy family . I do not know what I would do without my furry friends.

Lilly
April 5, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just want to let you know that Lilly is doing great. She is full of fun and loves to snuggle with me. Thank you so much! I trimmed the hair around her eyes. Isn't she beautiful. Thanks again,

Dixie and Astrid
April 1, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Dixie and the kitten (Astrid -- I haven't quite settled on a new name) are great. They really bonded after a few days. Dixie grooms her and lets her nurse, with both of them purring loudly. There is also a lot of chasing around. The kitten is a natural retriever --she brings paper balls right back to me repeatedly. Dixie likes to carry a ball of yarn around like it is a kitten, vocalizing while she carries it. They sleep together at the foot of the bed until about 6 am, when they both want to get under the covers.

Jack fka Friskie
April 1, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Friskie renamed Jack is doing very well in his new home. He loves running up and down the stairs and sitting in Nancys lap when he gets tired out. He sleeps with us at night and lets us know it is time to get up by poking us in the head (not gently)! He has lots of toys and cat beds around the house to relax in. He knows when the heat comes on and loves to sit on the grate and let the warm air blow up on him. I think that he is very happy here and we are happy to have him here with us. Thanks for all you do and for introducing us to Jack.

Goofy and Mouse

Honey
March 27, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I want you to know that Honey, recently adopted has a wonderful home. She is settling in and enjoying life. Her daily walks (weather permitting) seem to be enjoyable. She gets to meet all the neighbors during this time, and they are also loving her. I visited Honey and her new family last week. She is a loving dog and seems to be very comfortable in her new home. Thank you for your care while Honey was awaiting her new family. My hope is that all your animal friends get to have wonderful families.

Elizabeth

Pip fka Sneezer
March 27, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Sneezer, now renamed Pip is adjusting pretty well to his new home. Pip has a big Sister dog named, Sassie. They are getting along and sharing lots of playtime and naps together. Sassie does get tired of his pestering but both dogs are given time away from each other everyday. We all take walks twice a day to burn off all of Pips’ energy. Of course since he is a puppy he has plenty of energy to burn. We have trained him to curb his jumping up on people and tables in just a short amount of time. He is very smart and learned to sit in just one day. Pip is very sweet and loves all the attention he gets from everyone. We had our two grandchildren over this past Saturday and Pip was very excited but played with them without any problems. There is still a lot of things we are working on with Pip but he is a puppy and is learning the rules and limits of our family. We expect there to be adjustments for everyone. We really enjoy Pip, he is entertaining with the crazy things he does but we love every minute of it. Thank you,

Sue R.

Blonde
March 26, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Blondie has fit in wonderfully!!

Harley
March 26, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Here is Harley at her happiest...playing tug of war! She definitely bloomed when she came to our home. She is not a quiet cat but very playful and curious. She has our older male cat, Duncan so she is not alone. She is a very determined cat but also has a gentle side. She plays real hard and has destroyed many a toy in short order but we love her anyways! Thanks for our unique cat.

Cindy and Dave

Wiskie and Moose
March 21, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Wiskie and Moose(fka Timmy) have adjusted well to living together and to our dog Hoss. In the early mornings, they like to chase each other around the house. Here they are posing for their picture together! Thank you all for everything.

Mike, Donna and Anna

Othello fka Leo
March 20, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I wanted to send you this picture of "Leo" whom we have named "Othello". He is part of the family and we are very glad we got to take him home with us, and I believe he is happy--he has a whole townhouse to roam in and lots of high places he can > go to to observe things from a distance (he seems to like this particular perch on top of the highboy in our living room). Thanks again for everything,

Monique D.

Twinkie fka Baloo
March 19, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Baloo is doing well and has adjusted good. My son renamed her Twinkie :-) She is a love big and has been a wonderful addition to our family so far. Thanks!

Rocky fka Mr. Smith
March 18, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just wanted to update you on Mr. Smith, now known as "Rocky". He adjusted to our home immediately, as if he had been here right along. He has been a perfect boy, ever so gentle with the rest of his pack - a cat, two parrots and my 5 year old grandson. He has bonded most with his new daddy, never leaving his side. Rocky is very spoiled in his new home and he deserves every bit of it! We are working on his weight loss through walks and diet. He is down to 106 lbs. Thank you so much Second Chance for allowing us to adopt such a wonderful dog!!! The work that you do is so valuable!!!

Paula and Todd

Louie fka Oreo
March 18, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Oreo (who I now call Louie since he acts like the king of my apartment) is doing great! He and my dog Annie are doing wonderful together. He is extremely playful and somewhat mischievous but I love him! My dog has actually been playing with him and we all play "hide and seek" around the apartment (he loves to run around the corners and jump sideways on his back legs then run away). Thank you so much for giving me a new playmate!

Heather

Olive fka Pluto
March 18, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We actually decided to change her name to Olive. She is doing great. When she is not running around acting like a crazy kitten she loves to cuddle. She climbs right up onto myself or my husband and wants to sleep on our chest right under our chin. Our older cat Jasmine is starting to warm up to her. Today they were sleeping on the bed together. Here are a few new pics of Olive. One is with her new favorite toy. She also loves to watch the computer screen and walk across the keyboard.

Amy

Bagina
March 13, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Bagina, now Bubbles is doing great she is having so much fun playing with my daughter shes a very gentle and loving kitten. Everyone who meets her says how lovable she is. She enjoys cuddling in bed at night and playing with baby durring the day. She is the perfect addition to our family. She loves fancy feast wet food (after she eats the gravy) and loves purina kitten chow for dry food. She was litter box trained the day after we came home. NO ACCIDENTS! shes perfect. And will send more pictures! She also loves bells and toy mice. Thank you!

Willow and Will
March 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
So happy to have our new edition Will in our family. Although at first we were hesitant to keep the name Will because our female golden is Willow, he is still Will and "Will" always be. The 2 dogs together are a mischievous pair but we love the excitement, especially for my 2 yr old son Logan. The combination of the three is quite chaotic, our family enjoys every minute of it. He has become quite comfortable with his new family in just over a month. He was definitely a missing link that we needed. He is full of energy but can also cuddle up when it's time to relax. Just want to thank-you for giving us the opportunity to give our new boy the life he deserves. Greatly Appreciative and Thank-you

Jennifer, Henry and Logan

Leroy and Lucy
March 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just wanted to send a quick note to tell you the Leroy and Lucy are adjusting quite nicely to their forever home.

Raenette and John K.

Stella
March 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We're snowed in with "Saturn" so it's time to go out and play! Stella (aka Bubbles) has shared our home for close to a year now and we can't imagine our life without her sweet playful presence. It's taken this "Southern Girl" from Kentucky many snow days to figure out how much fun it can be to bound around in the mysterious white fluffy stuff but she's finally got the hang of it. Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to share our lives with our girl Stella.

Regards, Jody and Bob

Moose and Emmit
March 4, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Emmit and Mouse are doing amazing! Emmitt was very shy and scared at first and it took him a long time to get used to his new home and new family but he is doing fabulous now, he still is cautious, he doesn't like loud noises and large groups of people. And Mouse had no problem adjusting to her new home, she has become the boss of the house. They play well together now and they love the attention my 3 boys give them! We are so happy to have chosen them! Thank you for everything!!

The Morse Family

Wrigs fka Jack
March 4, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I wanted to give you and update on "Jack" who is now Wriglee. He is doing great, turned five months yesterday. He has been nothing but a blessing. He is a little fireball of energy and spoiled as ever. We have gotten him used to the car and so he goes with me everywhere, even to work 2 days a week! We are also in puppy-school where we have learned "sit", "down" and "touch". Still working on "stay" as all puppies have a very short attention span and can't sit still :) Thank you so much for bringing us together, attached is a picture my co-worker took of Wrigs.

Sarah A.

Chloe
March 4, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Chloe has settled in quite quickly in the two weeks she has been in her new home. She is such a sweet girl who is full of energy, always wanting to play or snuggle up on the couch. She loves to be outside investigating nature and wildlife, along with meeting new dogs and their humans on our walks. She is very happy here and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her. She is the perfect addition to our family and we thank you for allowing us to give her a second chance at a happy life.

Melissa

Ozzy fka Woody
March 1, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Woody who we renamed, Ozzy, is more than we could have ever hoped for in a pet! He fit right in from the day we brought him home. We have had him for several months now and he makes us laugh everyday! He has brought so much happiness into our lives, he is pure joy! He is perfect with our children and is extremely friendly with every person and animal he comes in contact with! Thank you very much for allowing us to be Ozzy's forever family! Sincerely,

The Cody Family

Luci
February 28, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Luci is by far the best dog we have ever had. I thought I was just going to foster her last July but we soon loved her way into our hearts nad lives. She loves everyone and everything alive. She is such a great companion to me. She befriends anyone that comes by. We can't thank you enough and for whoevers realised they couldn't continue to care for her. We thank you so much!

Maureen and Larry B.

Santana
February 26, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I'm so happy to say that "Santana" now know as Chance has been a wonderful addition to our family! Since adopting him January 8 he has adjusted so well. The once hyper puppy has turned into the most lovable and cuddly dog ever. He loves his new home. He is still very playful, loves his walks, enjoys going for rides in the car and mostly he has enjoyed playing with the girls in the snow. We are so grateful to be his furever family!! Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt him and make him a part of our family!!

Melissa, Eric, Ivie, Cordillia and Autumn

Trixi fka Siri
February 25, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
This is Trixi fka Siri. She definitely has made herself very comfortable with our family. My daughter and her are the best of friends, she follows her around the house. If she's not in the same room she searches high and low meowing for her. At times my daughter and her cause a bit of mischief together an d drag the toilet paper from the roll, all over my kitchen. They really are little partners in crime. At night after my daughter is put to bed Trixi is the most affectionate, she likes to curl up in a ball on the back of the couch ha lf on my shoulder. I think it's her way of saying she had a good day playing. We are very grateful for having such an amazing new a ddition to our family and want to thank all the staff for helping us find her.

Rusty
February 25, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Rusty just luvs his new home. He has to be the best dog ever. He is so smart and learns everything so quickly. He is already very spoiled. Clearly you can see that in this picture. His daddy just adores him. Thank you so much we luv him.

Tasha
February 22, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Tasha has been with us now for 9 days. She almost immediately adapted to her new home. No accidents in the house, very playful, happy and content, and full of energy on walks, and LOVES to ride in the car. She's 26 1/2 pounds and not expected to get much bigger. She is a true blessing. Thank you so much.

Rita

Elroy
February 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Elroy has been a perfect member of the family. Never before did I have a dog so little who could jump and climb so high. Sometimes he is in his spot on top of the couch, and looking out the window when I wave to him out of my truck window and lightly beep on the way to work. I cannot thank you enough for our adoption, and I can tell that Elroy loves it here too. Here's a poem about Elroy...

The Little Dog

The little dog
under the quilt
can’t keep
both eyes
open,

twirling covers
and shunning the light,
making my bed
into
his house.

– Glenn D’Alessio, 11/24/2012

Otis fka Douglas
February 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Otis (FKA) Douglas is doing great! We really enjoy having him as a new edition to our family. Otis was really wild when we first brought him home, but he has settled in just fine. He knows sit and laydown and he is doing great with his crate training.

Nola
February 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We brought home Sallie/ Nola few weeks ago. She really responds well to Nola so we are staying with that. We totally expected an adjustment period, which lasted maybe five minutes. She made herself right at home. She really likes our 14 year old lab and is a great family dog. She has a large yard to run in and loves car rides. We couldn't ask for a better dog and we are very happy with her and the friendly staff at your shelter. Thank You for helping us adopt such a great dog

February 8, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just want to let you know that Danny loves his new home! He plays fetch, loves to sleep under the covers and plays with his new beagle friend.Once we convinced him that he is not human and could not eat human food at dinner, he developed a strong appetite for wet food. We love him and he is a lovable blessing to us!!!

Cotton
February 7, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
We just wanted to let you know that Cider and Cotton (fka Elisabeth) have adjusted nicely to there new home. The kids have enjoyed the experience of watching their new pets play and to see their individual personalities. Cotton is similar to my son Jordan who is laid back, but likes having fun. While Cider is energetic and plays hard then crashes for a few hours, is exactly like my daughter Delaney. We feel very lucky to have these new additions to our family.

George, Saara, Jordan and Delaney

Toby
February 4, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I am happy to say that "Toby" now known as Chewbacca or Chewie is settling in just great. We love him so much!! He is giving Charlie our 80lb Labradoodle a run for his money but I think he really enjoys having a little brother to play with. He is a very smart little boy he is already sitting and giving high fives, oh and signaling to go to go outside. A big thank you to Second Chance for letting us adopt this wonderful little guy and for all of you support. Thank you so much,

Joshua, Jen and Mathew H.

Bella and Bear
fka Hope and Chaos
February 4, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I just wanted to update you on Bear and Bella's progress. We were lucky enough to adopt Bella in December and then came back in January and adopted Bear----Bella needed a playmate...and Bear needed a home..and it couldn't have worked out better for all four of us. As you can see from this picture they like each other ...ALOT. Bella welcomed Bear into her house with open arms (or paws...). They love to play with each other! We call Bear her shadow because he follows her around everywhere...and I don't think she minds! Bear has learned so much from Bella and we couldn't be happier having these two wonderful cats in our lives. People may think that the kitty's adopted are lucky --- but we feel we are the lucky ones because we have the best cats ever! Thank you so much for everything you do!

Jen and Tim

Myra
February 4, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
She is doing well. She is fiesty and is always running around the house in a playful manner. She chases my other cat around and my other cat still isn't that thrilled, but they are not hissing at each other or growling anymore but simply meowing. She gets along better with the pugs. They don't seem to phase her a bit.

Martin
February 4, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Here is Martin napping on his new Dad's arm! He has been the most easy going guy starting with his ride home from Second Chance. Everything we were told about him is true. Very curious; we think he checked every corner of the house within the first 24 hours. He doesn’t let anything bother him, including his resident sibs, who have been cautiously curious. He is a perfect lap cat. And yes, he is a cat that thinks he’s a dog: If you call him enthusiastically, as one would with a dog, he comes running! We absolutely love him!

Petey - 7 months

Petey - 8 years
February 3, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Just wanted to update you on Petey who we adopted when he was about 7 Months old from your shelter. He is now 8. Petey has brought much joy to the family and he is very happy with us and well cared for. We were told he and his Brother Leo at the time where being abused by a husband of a lady that gave then to you. But he is over that and smart as a whip, very affectionate and loving and a good guard dog too. Thanks for all you do to help animals. We would have never gotten him without you, keep up the good work. I attached a pix when young and now. And he is a beautiful dog, we were told his father was American Eskimo/German Shepard and his mom is Lab/Australia Cattle Dog. Sincerely,

Daniel P.

February 1, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Macy is doing very well. She is a very well behaved dog and already knows “sit”, “paw”, and “down”. We love her so very much and she seems to be settling in. Michelle and I thank you for helping us through this process and commend you all on your professionalism, clear affection for all the animals, and particular aptitude for placing deserving pets in their forever home. Zoe is doing very well in her new home, she's the sweetest cat I've ever owned. She cuddles with us nonstop! She has soooo much energy, definitely way more than I expected but that's a good thing. She likes to play with her catnip mice and can get pretty crazy late at night. Zoe is happy and I am so glad I made the decision to take her home with me :)

fka Fred and Ginger
January 30, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Fred and Ginger (Pasha) are doing wonderfully. They are so active and love to play. It is amazing to see how big they grow every day. Integration with the 2 other cats and 2 dogs has been slow, but everyone is finally starting to get along. Fred and Ginger have been caught even sneaking into the puppy crate to snooze. They are an amazing addition to our family. Sincerely,

Judy and Joe

Jasmin
January 30, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Jasmin is doing wonderful! She had no problem at all adjusting to her new home. She is so easy going and friendly its hard to believe she was put up for adoption. Our 3 year old male orange tiger was initially not very happy about his new playmate but he adjusted quickly and is now much more active. Both cats take turns chasing each other around the house, it looks like they are playing tag. It is so obvious how much you and your shelter care for these wonderful animals. Thank you so much for bringing us together with our two cats.

John J.

Foxx is doing wonderful. He is a great dog in every way. He is sooooo friendly and everyone at the office adores him. He wiggles at the site of the boys and we love him very much. We couldn't be happier in our choice and are thankful for people like you who take so much time to find so many pets homes. We are glad we could give him a Second Chance. January 24, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
I'm happy to let you know that Griffin is great! He's my new best friend! He is adjusting very well and is well behaved. He is definitely still curious and rambunctious but also very snuggly. I don't have any concerns- he's such a sweet baby. Thank you for helping me adopt this wonderful kitty and thanks for checking up on him! Thanks,

Hallie

George aka Winter
January 24, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
George/Winter...yes he now has two names...is doing great. He gets along with our other cats and dog and took him no time at all to make himself at home. He sleeps with our oldest son everynight and has made Clarence, our other cat, very happy because he now has a real playmate. Included is a picture of the two sleeping. Clarence thinks he's a dad now and if they aren't playing you can usually find them cuddled together or Clarence is bathing George's head and ears. He's a good match for our family and our second adoption from Second Chance. Thanks for the new family member! Sincerely,

The Pietrzak Family

January 21, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Lucy just wanted you to know that she is very happy here in her fureverť home. She's eating well, goes for walks three times a day, knows her way around the house, loves her pack (including the head dog, Simon) and has really bonded with the entire pack. She's extremely affectionate and intelligent, biddable and follows the lead of the pack. We couldn't have chosen a better dog. We look forward to many happy years with our Lucy.

Hi Second Chance,
Thank you for checking in. John Davis aka JD is doing very well and adjusted to our family as soon as he arrived home. He is a very affectionate kitty who loves to give hugs and kisses and snuggle in your lap but also loves to run around the house playing tag with our 6 year old. He is the perfect fit. Thank you again! Regards,

Luna and Alice
fka Onyx and Amber
January 16, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Onyx (now Luna) and Amber (now Alice) have adjusted wonderfully! They are truly apart of the family now. I spoil them frequently with toys and, of course, love. They are running around like crazy. They are always by one another's side, as you will see in the pictures. I can't thank you enough for allowing these little bundles of energy and fun. It's so rewarding to come home to them. Thanks again!!

Bear
January 15, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Tomorrow will make two years that you allowed my human to take me to my forever home. Thank you so much!!! I love it here! I get to take walks everyday! I have two best friends next door, they are 7 and they are brother and sister, we run around and play ball. They are only 7 and I'm 13 but we still have a lot of fun. I get to go on car rides and I finally understand "hold on". I used to do face plants but finally understood what I was being told. LOL I have nose prints all over the place. I have attached a picture, I didn't want it taken but my human wanted you to see that I maybe a little more gray, I'm doing great! My human tells people all the time that people should adopt, look how great mine turned out!!! Thank you again!

Wintiki
January 14, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Attached is a picture of Wintiki the day we took her home. As you can see, we bonded quickly. Once we held her we never let her go and she held on to us, too. Wintiki is a bright and lively addition to our family. She loves to play with us (mouse-on-a-string, and fetch with her favorite sparkle ball) but can also entertain herself for hours playing with her toys. She is cuddly with everyone, snuggling up on a lap and purring loudly. She is also feisty and troublesome - very much a 5 month old kitten! - and we love it. We laugh a lot, every day, with Wintiki in our home. She is awesome!!!

Dwight
January 14, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
When we brought Dwight home we decided to rename him. After some thought, we decided on Chance (for Second Chance). He has adjusted so well, and he loves people. He is devoted to my eight year old daughter, Lily, and sleeps next to her faithfully every night on his blanket that he brought home with him from your shelter. His favorite treats are bacon flavored, and he loves doing tricks for them! He sits, stands on his hind legs, spins on his hind legs, and walks on his hind legs! I grew up in a cat home; we never had dogs, so I wasn't sure if my parents would want him to be inside at their house for long periods of time when we visit. As it's turned out, they love him as much as we do, and have a stash of his favorite treats in their cupboard, along with a couple of his favorite toys. While Chance is not very tiny, he is also not a large dog at all, and he considers himself to be a lap dog. He is the most affectionate dog I have ever met. My Mama, who is not well, loves when he visits and sits with her. Petting him is therapeutic for her, and I can honestly say that the joy and unconditional love that Chance has brought to my family, and our extended family, would never have been possible without Second Chance. Thank you so much for letting us give Chance his Second Chance,

Miles
January 11, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
When i went to second chance i was looking for a small young dog for my son. The small dogs that i seen were so hyper and just kept barking but a little chihuahua mixed terrier named,"Miles", caught my eye. He was an older dog and laid back. I knew he would be ours. Today he is doing very well. He was already house broken which was a plus and he is very protective of our home.Or shall i say his home now. He keeps us warm at night. I wanted to change his name but he responded well to the name that he came with and it also fit his personality. He can walk for miles. He became my walking partner and together we walk for miles. Thank you second chance. Words can never express how happy we are with him.

Sadie is doing beautifully. She is SUCH a sweetheart. She has adjusted well to being part of our family and she and Phoenix have bonded and now play, eat and sleep together. I can't tell you how happy we are with this newest addition to our family. She has brought Phoenix back to being himself and she is wonderful with my great neices. Thank you so much.

Pumpkin and Patch
January 9, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Pumpkin and Patch have us wrapped around their little paws. Punkin as he is now called since acting like a punk (he has settled down but has a lot of energy)really adores his sister Patch who takes excellent care of him. She will bathe herself then him. They usually snuggle up to sleep. Patch loves to carry toys around and Punkin hides my little soft gloves (currently missing). They have learned the rules of house; Matilda our eldest cat is queen. Molly keeps an eye on them and has stopped growling. They have all shared kisses. Thay are adorable. Thank you all so much for the great job you do.

Merry Kate
fka Blanche
January 9, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
"Blanche" whom we have since renamed "Merry Kate" has become the little princess of the house. As our only furry resident, she has laid claim on all the cushions, pillows, and gift bows in the house. We understand that she was fostered in a household with dogs. Well, that imprinting stuck. Merry Kate will play fetch with a bow or her little ball for hours if we let her! As you can see in the attached picture, she decided laptop computers are nice, warm seats for her. People and couches work, too. She's a treasure, for sure. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt from your agency. We will be sure to send friends looking for furry friends your way should the "chance" arrive. ;) Regards,

Wendy and Ed F.

Kringle
January 9, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Thank you for checking in! Kringle is such a sweet kitty, he loves to cuddle but at the same time he is very playful, loves his new toys and the climbing tower. He is a little cautious around my youngest daughter (3) but overall adjusted well to being a member of our family. It's been only a month but we can't imagine how we lived without Kringle before :o) Thank you again and best regards,

Alina

Bruno and Luna
January 9, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Things have gone well with Bruno. He is a wonderful dog and has been a wonderful addition to our family. Bruno has seemed to do well adjusting to his new home. The only area that he is not loving yet is being in his crate when I am at work. He & Luna have gotten along great together & love playing together and snuggling together! Bruno has brought Luna's younger and playful side out that she lost after our Ralphie boy died in April. Thanks so much for bringing us together!

Oakley fka Hickory
January 8, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
Thank you for checking in on Hickory (now known as Oakley). Oakley is very sweet and smart. Training has really been easy and he loves to be around people without being overwhelming. He loves that we have lots of large fields to run and play. Oakley is a great addition to our family.

Thomas
January 7, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
It was a year ago this coming February 1st that we brought Thomas home to live with us. Bringing Thomas home has been one of the best things we have done. He is extremely intelligent & understands so much, he has such a great personality. He has fit in so well with our 2 cats we adopted from Second Chance back in 2009 & the outdoor stray that adopted us 2 years ago in a blizzard. They play together so well, which seems very strange and great to watch, since he is an 87lb pit bull. The funniest thing to see is the 4 of them playing chase in the house. The cats still get a look of suprise on their faces when Thomas runs at them full speed and then just drops the front of his body down to their eye level with his tail wagging like crazy because this means play time is on. He is very protective of the cats & gets worried when one of them sneezes or coughs, he springs to his feet, even if sound asleep, to run and find them in order to make sure they are ok. He also loves to sit outside with us, and he sits in one of the chairs inbetween Mark and I. He can always sense when I am having a bad day health wise and he gets even more caring which seems impossible since he is already such a loving pit. He loves playing outside with Mark or just going anywhere and everywhere with Mark. There are so many other great personallity traits that I could go on forever. Since joining our family Thomas has changed the minds of so many friends & family around pit bulls. He will lick you as often as he can, which is a minor downfall especially right after you shower, but can become very protective in the blink of an eye. If someone new comes to the house & we introduce them he runs from there & immediately stands over me between whoever is here & me. As he starts to feel more comfortable he begins to slowly progress from standing over me to laying across my lap. He thinks he is a 87lb lap dog, lol. As you can see from this picture he always sleeps with one ear.up so he can hear everything thats going on in case there is a threat to the family & he needs to spring into action. Adopting Thomas has been so great for us & him. We love having him snuggling with us throughout the day & we take him with us whenever its possible. We constantly spoil him & friends & family have now joined in the spoiling. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to bring Thomas home with us. We are completely in love with him as he is with us. Pits are definitely our breed of choice but since Thomas will be with us forever, we decided that he needs to live for a very very long time, we wont need to look again. He is absolutely amazing!!! Thank you!!!! Kellie, Mark & Thomas

Milo
January 7, 2013
Hi Second Chance,
You used to know me as Chief but my new family changed my name to Milo and I Think I love it. I am having so much fun in my new home. My mommy and daddy give me lots of hugs and kisses and take me on car rides which are my favorite! I have an 8 year old human brother who runs around with me and gives me lots of yummy treats. My mommy and daddy are trying to keep my weight under control so I am not allowed to have too many but since I am so cute sometimes they just can't resist my charm. ( plus my brother sneaks in a slice of carrot when my parents aren't looking but they know that shhhh.) On my first week at my new home my parents took me to the grommers and I got the royal treatment which included a facial and a bath that made me smell like cupcakes!! they gave me this amazing haircut and I get to wear all these awesome clothes. I even got presents on Christmas!! Take care second chance and thank you for giving me my furr -ever home :) Woff Woff
